<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quickly remove a sheet material P even when jam occurs in a fixing unit 17. <P>SOLUTION: When jam occurrence is detected in a fixing nip part N, a drive control part 39 controls releasing of fixing pressure in the nip part N by linking operation of a rack and pinion mechanism 31 and a motor actuator M2 or the like.
