STABLE HYDROALCOHOLIC COMPOSITION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydroalcoholic composition as a hand preparation such as a lotion or as a presurgical scrub replacement. SOLUTION: A hydroalcoholic lotion is disclosed which comprises(a) a lower alcohol and water in a weight ratio of about 35:65 to 100:0 and (b) between at least 0.5 wt.% and 8 wt.% thickener system containing at least one emulsifier being present in an amount of at least 0.05 wt.% and selected so that the composition in a polymer-free state has viscosity of at least 4,000 cP at 23°C, the emulsifier having at least one hydrophobic group and at least one hydrophilic group.
