METHOD AND DEVICE FOR PACKET SCHEDULING

A method for packet scheduling is disclosed by the present invention. The method includes: A, the received packet is buffered to the corresponding virtual output queue (VOQ) according to the class of service contained in the packet header and destination that the packet will be transmitted to; B, a grant is generated respectively for each VOQ according to the amount of packets in each VOQ and network congestion degree, and the grants are distributed to each VOQ; C, each VOQ performs packet scheduling and dequeuing according to the grant; D, a round-robin scheduling is performed according to the priority of the dequeued packet, and then the packet is scheduled and outputted. A device for implementing packet scheduling is disclosed by the present invention as well. The method and device enable the distributed scheduling of VOQ, and flexible scheduling, and thereby the hardware logic resources are saved.
