A mobile communication system comprises a first base station and a second base station.  The first base station is provided with a first generating section for generating a first known signal which is adapted to be used by the first base station and the second base station in common and a second known signal which is adapted to be uniquely used by each of the first and second base stations, and a wireless transmission section for transmitting the first and second known signals generated by the first generating section to a terminal device under control by wireless.
