<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent deterioration of recording quality during start of recording in an optical disk recording device. <P>SOLUTION: A laser control part 203 sets a drive current value of a semiconductor laser 101 to a current value calculated based on difference between the power detected by a laser beam detecting part 102 and a target power during start of recording data. Also, after elapse of the prescribed time from start of recording data, feedback control operation is started in which calculation of a current value in accordance with difference between the power detected by the laser beam detecting part 102 and the target power and update of the drive current value of the semiconductor laser 101 for a current value obtained by this calculation are repeated for each prescribed timing.
