<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a post member for a temporary scaffold enabling different kinds of post members like a single pipe supporting post and a building frame to be used together in the single temporary scaffold. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the supporting post 11 for temporary construction having a tenon 18 and a mortise 21 respectively formed on two vertical ends of a body pipe 12, the tenon 18 is formed to have an outer diameter smaller than that of the body pipe 12, and a step part 17 having an outer diameter substantially same as an inner diameter of the mortise 21 and larger than the outer diameter of the tenon 18 is formed on a base part of the tenon 18 on the side of the body pipe 12. Further, a projection 14 projecting in the direction of the step part 17 but not extending to an outer peripheral position of the tenon 18, at least, is formed on an end face 12a at the upper end part. A second auxiliary pipe 20 having an inner diameter substantially the same as the outer diameter of the tenon 18 is inserted into the mortise 21 in a manner that an end face 20a of its own is arranged at the position retreated from the position of an end face 12b of the lower end part by the height of the step part 17.
