<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of quickly finishing a preparation operation, such as, a warming-up operation and an image stabilization control. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus, in which the image stabilization control is performed by means of a main motor, and the warming-up operation is performed by means of a fixing motor; a time Tf having the probability of requiring that for the warming-up operation, after the power source is turned on, a time Tm having the probability of being required for the image stabilization control are obtained (S11). When Tf>Tm is established (YES in S12), the fixing motor is started up at a high speed, while applying a high voltage to the fixing motor (S13), and the warming-up operation is performed; and after the high-speed start-up, the main motor is started up at a normal speed, while voltage lower than that used for the high-speed start-up (S16) is applied; and then, the image stabilization control is performed. When Tf≤Tm is established (NO at S12), the main motor is started up at a high speed (S21), and the image stabilization control is performed; and also, after the high-speed start-up, the fixing motor is started up at a normal speed (S24) and then warming-up operation is performed.
