A digital broadcast receiver is provided which can reliably perform a seek operation for an ensemble. Upon a seek instruction, a system controller 38A makes a front end 2 sequentially tune in frequencies of a plurality of ensembles. When a NULL symbol is detected at some reception frequency, a frequency error detector 33A decodes carrier-components of PRS and judges whether a maximum correlation value of a correlation function calculated between the decoded carrier-components and a predetermined reference code is equal to or higher than a predetermined value. If the maximum correlation value is equal to or higher than the predetermined value, the seek operation is terminated.
