PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating composition suitable for the repair of thermal barrier coating (TBC), particularly, the repair of an alumina-silica composition based TBC and a repairing method. SOLUTION: In the method, the coating composition containing a solid ceramic particles, hollow ceramic particles and a silica precursor binder is prepared and is applied on an opening part, for example, on the surface region of a part exposed by the peeling of the TBC and next, repair coating is generated to cover the surface region of the part by the reaction of the binder. The resultant repaired coating contains the solid ceramic particles and the hollow ceramic particles in the silica matrix produced by the thermal degradation of the binder.
