A percolating device includes a tank operable to hold liquid and having a to p portion, a side wall, and a bottom portion. A strainer basket is positioned near the to p portion of the tank and is operable to contain coffee grounds. A heating element is operable to heat a liquid contained in the tank and a tube directs heated liquid from the heating element to the strainer basket such that the heated liquid enters the strainer basket. A partition sealably engages the side wall of the tank and is operable to substantially separate liquid that has entered and fallen through the strainer basket from liquid that has not entered and fallen through the strainer basket.
