1281096 Upholstery K A WAGNER 27 Aug 1970 [28 Aug 1969] 41296/70 Heading A4M [Also in Division B5] An article of upholstered furniture comprises a resilient core 11, Fig.1, with a cover, the core comprising an extruded, elastomeric plastics material forming a plurality of layers of longitudinally extending, parallel cavities 16 each bounded by walls 15 which are inclined to the upper and lower faces 13, 14 of the core 11 so that they bend under load. The cavities 16 may be of triangular cross-section, as shown. Alternatively, Fig.2, the cavities 22 are of square cross-section and include ribs 27 extending over part of the diagonal height of the cavity. Alternatively Fig.4 (not shown) the cavities (32) may be circular in cross-section. A plurality of cores may be secured together side by side by adhesive or welding on by headed fasteners (42, 52) Figs.5, 6 (not shown) on one core engaged in cavities (43, 53) in an adjacent core. Cores may be inter-connected by an elastic tie (45) extending through cavities (44) in the cores. |
