摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for verifying a sample fluid volume by quantifying an aspirated fluid volume, and a method for verifying sample uniformity by detecting a non-ideal condition such as presence of foams or clots in a sample. SOLUTION: The method for verifying the sample fluid volume quantifies the aspirated fluid volume and verifies the sample uniformity by detecting the foams or the clots in the sample. After aspiration, a pressure sensor is used for measuring a pressure reduction needed to hold a fluid column at a probe tip. By knowing a geometry of the probe tip, the pressure reduction is converted to a sample weight and the fluid volume from a sample density. The non-ideal condition, for example the foams on a fluid surface or clots in a fluid, results in the sample fluid volume much smaller than anticipated in the foams, and much greater than anticipated in clots.
