PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which enhances confidentiality for a document even when another person is asked to transmit or accumulate document data, and also to provide a control method and program of the image forming apparatus, and an image forming system. SOLUTION: When an image forming apparatus reads a document image to which first and second authentication information are added (S104), the image forming apparatus detects the first and second authentication information from the read document image read (S106). Upon receiving an input of a password for authentication from a user (S110), the image forming apparatus performs authentication by using the input password and the detected first authentication information (S111). If the authentication is successful (YES at S112), the image forming apparatus encrypts the read image document by using the detected second authentication information (S114).
