PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an epoxy resin giving a cured product being easily manufactured regardless of introduction of a mesogen group, being excellent in solubility to an organic solvent and being excellent in toughness and thermal conductivity. SOLUTION: The epoxy resin is represented by formula (1) (wherein, a plurality of existing Ar independently represent a bonding group represented by formula (X) 4,4'-biphenyl skeleton or formula (Y) a 4,4'-biphenyl skeleton in which at least one hydrogen atom is substituted with a 1-2C alkyl group, an allyl group or a phenyl group, formula (X) and the formula (Y) can be arbitrarily selected and at least one bonding group of formula (X) and formula (Y) is included in one molecule, n is the repetition number, and its average value is 0<n<50).
