<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a brake device having an excellent maintenance property by correcting imbalance of a pressing force of a braking shoe to a brake drum and improving imbalance of braking shoe wear. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the brake device provided with a pair of rotatably supported braking arms 2a, 2b having the braking shoes 4a, 4b arranged to face against a braking surface 3 of a brake drum 1 as an object to be braked, braking springs 6a, 6b for applying pressure to the braking arms 2a, 2b to brake the brake drum 1 by pressing the braking surface 3 by the braking shoes 4a, 4b and driving means 8a, 8b for canceling braking of the brake drum 1 by canceling pressing of the braking shoes 4a, 4b by driving the braking arms 2a, 2b respectively while resisting against spring forces of the braking springs 6a, 6b wherein a pressing force to the brake drum 1 is generated by weight of mechanical elements such as the braking shoes, the braking arms, the braking springs and movable parts of the driving means, pressing force correction means 13, 18 for correcting imbalance of pressing forces of the braking shoes 4a, 4b to the brake drum 1 are provided on the braking arms 2a, 2b.
