The pump device (112) is forced to provide a controlled decrease in pressure (?p) which the pulp suspension is subjected to in the pump device (112) during its transport from the inlet means (114) to the outlet means (116), and the flow from the container (104, 204) is controlled by adjusting the controlled decrease in pressure (?p).
