METHOD OF BALANCE CORRECTION OF OPTICAL DEFLECTOR, OPTICAL DEFLECTOR, OPTICAL SCANNER AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of balance correction of an optical deflector with which whirling vibration due to imbalance of mass of a rotating body is suppressed more quickly and certainly than conventional methods. SOLUTION: The method of balance correction of the optical deflector is provided for correcting the balance of a scanner motor unit 81 having a motor which includes: a rotating body having a polygon mirror 42 which deflects and scans trimming laser light Lt; a supporting member 85 which supports the polygon mirror 42 and a rotor 86 connected to the supporting member 85; and a stator 89 facing to the rotor 86, wherein the method of balance correction includes: a first balance correction step in which a mass is given to the rotating body by giving an ultraviolet-setting resin to the rotating body and the balance of the rotating body is corrected; and a second balance correction step in which, after the first correction step, a mass is removed from the rotating body by machining the rotating body by laser and the balance of the rotating body is corrected.
