<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a processor device for an electronic endoscope which displays a menu screen well together with an observation image without involving the change of the aspect ratio or degradation in resolution of the observation image. Ž<P>SOLUTION: An image composite circuit forms a mask composite image 76 so as to expose the observation image 71 alone from an original image 70. The image composite circuit composes a menu screen 77 input from a menu screen generation circuit on the mask composite image 76 when a prescribed operation signal is input. When the menu screen 77 is superposed at the center part as a region of interest of the observation image 71, the processor device moves the observation image 71 together with an opening 74 in accordance with the degree of superposition and produces a menu composite image 78 in which the center of the observation image 71 is exposed from the menu screen 77 and displays it on a monitor.
