PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such a problem that a vertical movement which can be applied to a torsional beam is minute and the shortening of a rise time is insufficient in the conventional optical scanner. SOLUTION: The optical scanner which rocks a mirror 130 supported by a support part disposed on a substrate 100, reflects light from a light source 403 with the mirror 130 and scans the light comprises: a vibration source 110 which is disposed on the substrate and generates a plate wave on the substrate 100; a driving circuit 200 for driving the vibration source 110; and a control part 400 which controls the driving of the vibration source 110 by means of the driving circuit 200 and, at the same time, controls the driving circuit 200 so as to generate a plate wave different from that on the normal driving on the substrate 100 when raising the driving that rocks the mirror 130.
