PURPOSE: A car navigation apparatus and an electronic map update method thereof are provided to minimize the time and cost for map data update by partially updating map data based on the preset priority. CONSTITUTION: A receiving unit(110) receives map data classified into a plurality of objects from a center according to object. A storage unit(150) stores the received map data in a database according to object. A control unit(140) updates the map data object by object based on the preset priority.
