<p>Automobile body components which are almost or completely inaccessible after assembly, esp. interior and hollow spaces e.g. door sills, composite sectional pts., sheet reinforcements in wheel box area, inner surfaces of headlamp casing, are chemically and/or electrochemically surface-treated, as single pts. or sub-assemblies, before assembly. After assembly, the car body surface is re-treated chemically and/or electrochemically and subsequently lacquered. Pref. the pts. surface-treated before assembly are directly provided with an organic coating, e.g. lacquer, esp. having suitable conductivity for electric welding. Treatment gives raised protection against corrosion, e.g. caused by salt scattered on roads in winter.</p> |
