<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a piezoelectric ceramic capable of obtaining a large piezoelectric strain constant, a small mechanical quality factor and a large specific resistance. <P>SOLUTION: The piezoelectric ceramic is provided with a sintered body containing a major component consisting of a composite oxide having a perovskite structure and a first subsidiary component containing at least one element R2 selected from the group consisting of Dy, Gd and Y and at least one element R3 selected from the group consisting of Ta, Nb and W. and the composite oxide has a composition expressed by (Pb<SB>1-x-y</SB>Me<SB>x</SB>) [(Co<SB>1/3</SB>Nb<SB>2/3</SB>)<SB>a</SB>Ti<SB>b</SB>Zr<SB>c</SB>]O<SB>3</SB>(wherein Me is at least one kind selected from the group consisting of Ca, Sr and Ba), and 0<1-x-y, 0≤x ≤0.05, 0≤y ≤0.05, a+b+c=1, 0<a ≤0.1, 0<b<1, 0<c<1, and 0.753≤(b/c)×(1-a)≤0.900 are satisfied and a Cu element is unevenly distributed in grain boundary of the sintered body. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
