<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk device capable of shortening an access time while suppressing the heat generation of a beam expander. <P>SOLUTION: A microcomputer 21 manages the operation time and the pause time of a stepping motor 24 for moving the movable lens 22b of a beam expander 23, and limits the subsequent continuous driving frequency of the stepping motor 24 to a permitted frequency or less according to the length of pause time immediately before. When the length of the pause time is shorter than a threshold value, or when the continuous driving frequency of the stepping motor reaches the permitted frequency, the driving of a next stepping motor is started after the passage of predetermined standby time. Alternatively, the accumulated period of operation time is calculated from the operation time and the pause time of the stepping motor, and when the accumulated period operation time exceeds a threshold value, the driving of the next stepping motor is started after the passage of predetermined standby time. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
