<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device which can detect the dependent-rotating position of a shaft-less charging roller composed of a hollow elastic material. Ž<P>SOLUTION: Disclosed is an image forming device comprising a charging apparatus with a charging roller 4 composed of a hollow elastic material which does not have a rotating pivot. The charging roller 4 is contacted with the surface of a photoreceptor drum 2, and rotates dependently on the rotation of the photoreceptor drum 2. A regulation member 5 deciding the dependent-rotating position of the charging roller 4 and further supplying electricity to the charging roller 4 contains a regulation face 5a having a space wider than the free shape of the charging roller 4, and regulating the charging roller 4 upon its dependent-rotation. For detecting the dependent-rotating position of the charging roller 4, a detection piece 21 separated in an electrically insulated state from the regulation face 5a, and also, with which the charging roller 4 is slid upon the dependent-rotation is arranged, and detects whether the detection piece 21 lies in an electrically conductive state or not.
