1281921 Storage racks PALMER-SHILE CO 15 July 1969 [30 Aug 1968] 35660/69 Heading A4B In a storage rack of the type comprising spaced uprights 12 with pressed out slots 16 to detachably receive teeth on end members 18 of bearer beams 17, each beam 17 comprises separable, aligned sections inter-connected by a splice member 19 with a cross-section similar to that of the beam nestled within the facing ends of the beam sections and secured thereto, e.g. by bolts 33 passed through aligned apertures 32, 35. A filler piece 38 having the same cross-section as the beam 17 may be fitted over and bolted to the exposed part of the splice member 19 between the facing ends of the beam sections. A standard beam may be lengthened by making a single cut in the beam and then joining the sections by the splice member. To shorten a standard beam a section is removed by making two cuts, the end sections then being spliced. In another embodiment, Fig.7 (not shown).
