PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope being excellent in inserting property, which reduces the vomiting reflex induced when the endoscope insertion section is introduced into the body through the oral cavity. SOLUTION: This endoscope 2 includes: the insertion section 10 which has a distal end and an proximal end, and has a curving section 14; the curving section 14 including a first curving section 15a which is constituted to curve at least in the vertical direction on the distal end side, and a second curving section 15b which is connected with the proximal end side of the first curving section 15a and is constituted to curve in the lateral direction being a different direction from the vertical direction; an operation section 11 which is connected with the proximal end side of the insertion section 10, and includes at least a curving section-operating mechanism section 21 having a vertically curving knob 21UD which makes the first curving section 15a curve in the vertical direction. In addition, the endoscope 2 includes a curving motion interlocking section which makes the second curving section 15b curve in the lateral direction by interlocking with the motion for making the first curving section 15a of the vertical curving knob 21UD curve in the vertical direction.
