<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cigarette lighter for an automobile not requiring any dimensional accuracy of a lighter plug and a lighter receptacle part, and capable of suppressing large projection of the lighter plug from the lighter receptacle part after the temperature reaches the predetermined value. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The cigarette lighter for the automobile comprises a lighter plug 200 consisting of a lighter body part 201, an operation knob 202, a large diameter sleeve 203, a small diameter sleeve 204, a slide ring 205, a spring 206 or the like, a lighter receptacle part 100 consisting of a holder part 101 for holding the inserted lighter plug 200, and a bimetal 110 or the like as a heat sensing member which energizes a heating element 207 and is deformed according to the temperature of the heating element 207 to hold or release the lighter plug 200, and a stopper ring 300 arranged between the slide ring 205 and the holder part 101.
