A milking equipment positioner (11) comprises a support beam (10) and a first part (13) for holding milking equipment (15), wherein the first part is engagable with the support beam and is movable along the support beam between a first (17) and a second (19) position. A second part (25) is arranged fixedly in or at the support beam between the first and second positions. One of the first and second parts includes sensing means (13c) provided for sensing each time the first part is moved passed the second part and indicating means (13c) connected to the sensing means and provided for indicating whether the first part is moved to the first position or to the second position based on the sensing.
