<p>Disclosed is an HID lamp having a structure that, even if cracking occurs, can prevent the propagation of cracking in a sealing site. In the HID lamp, an electrode or a stopper to which the electrode has been welded is inserted into a sealing site provided at both ends of a ceramic discharge container. The gap between the electrode or the stopper, to which the electrode has been welded, and the sealing site is kept in a hermetically sealed state through a frit glass. The glass comprises a binary frit glass of Al2O3-CaO, a binary frit glass of Al2O3-Dy2O3, preferably or a ternary or higher frit glass of Al2O3-Dy2O3-SiO2. Fine particles of ZrO2 (zirconium oxide), ZrSiO4 (zirconium silicate), WO3 (tungsten oxide), TiO2 (titanium oxide), CeO2 (cerium oxide) or the like are uniformly dispersed without being dissolved in a solid solution form in the glass.</p> |
