PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: an electrode that achieves excellent cycle characteristics and excellent rate characteristics; a lithium-ion secondary battery; and a method for manufacturing the electrode.

SOLUTION: The electrode includes a current collector 16 and a metal-oxide-containing layer 18 provided on the current collector 16. The metal-oxide-containing layer 18 contains metal-oxide particles, including oxides of metals that belong to the fourth period of the periodic table, and SiOX(0≤X≤2).
