<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transmit an image attached by a digital sign without keeping a user waiting in the place where an image processor with a scanner finishes reading the image to be transmitted. Ž<P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus 1 reads an electronic certificate from a PKI (Public Key Infrastructure) card 5 and stores it to a storage means. An image is read by a scanner to generate an image file for the image, a message digest is generated from the image file, and the message digest is transmitted to a terminal device 2. The terminal device 2 reads a secret key from the PKI card 5, encrypts the message digest from the image forming apparatus 1 with the secret key, and transmits the encrypted message digest to the image forming apparatus 1. The image forming apparatus 1 transmits the generated image file to a transmission destination, attaching the electronic certificate stored in the storage means and the encrypted message digest from the terminal device 2 attached.
