<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutting chip treating device for a machine tool, which enhances the recovery rate of cutting chips and the like. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A suction hole 17 is formed so as to extend through a main shaft 7 and a tool 8 in an axial direction. An opening 17a provided at one end of the suction hole 17 is positioned within a working chamber 10, and an opening 17b provided at the other end is connected to a suction separator 13. Cutting chips W1 produced within the working chamber 10 are suctioned together with air which has flown down through an air nozzle 10d, through the suction hole 17 by the suction separator 13. The cutting chips W1 are separated from the suctioned air, and the air separated from the cutting chips W1 is supplied into the working chamber 10 and is allowed to flow down through the air nozzle 10d.
