PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an on-vehicle optical scanner in which electromagnetic driving of a large actuator is obtained with a small current value effectively using gain rise by basic frequency and in which percentage of optical irradiation time in light scanning is enhanced using a small and inexpensive magnetic circuit. SOLUTION: The optical scanner includes a driving means for alternately repeating a first driving operation that moves a holder in a first direction which is a direction perpendicular to the optical axis of an optical element held by the holder and a second driving operation that moves the holder in a direction opposite to the first direction, and includes a position detecting means for detecting the position of the holder. Where T1 is a time required for the first driving operation, T2 is a time required for the second driving operation, 1/(2×T1)=f1, 1/(2×T2)=f2, and f0 is a fundamental resonance frequency of an elastic support means of a system comprising the holder and the elastic support means; the f0, f1 and f2 satisfy the relations of 0.6≤f1/f0 and f2/f0≤1.4 in the optical apparatus.
