PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processing unit convenient for use, and capable of efficiently erasing unnecessary data by overwriting. SOLUTION: Based on an HDD access execution state notification output from data analysis section 41, a data rendering unit 42 or a print control unit 43, an HDD data erasure control unit 46 detects the existence or the non-existence of a data access to an HDD 113. Also, by referring to data management information stored in the HDD 113, the HDD data erasure control unit 46 detects whether an erasure data (unnecessary data) of an overwrite erasure processing object of the HDD data is stored in the HDD 113. Then, only when there is no data access to the HDD 113 and this erasure data is stored in the HDD 113, will the HDD data erasure control unit 46 allow an HDD data erasure unit 47 to execute HDD data overwrite erasure processing.
