PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sound absorbing material which is thinner and lighter than the sound absorbing material in the prior art, and which has both sound absorbing and shield characteristics. SOLUTION: The sound absorbing material composed of a base material resin which forms open cells, and an organic hollow particle which is distributed by the base material resin, forms closed cells to be swelled, has a high sound absorbing characteristic region, and an excellent sound shield characteristic, in a broad frequency. Moreover, high sound absorbing rate can be obtained with a light mass, for low frequency sound of ≤1000 Hz, although it is difficult for material other than heavy materials.
