MANUFACTURING METHOD OF GLASS SUBSTRATE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a glass substrate, by which a glass substrate having high mechanical strength and an excellent state of its principal surface is manufactured.

SOLUTION: The manufacturing method of the glass substrate includes: a glass block forming step to laminate and bond a plurality of thin glass sheets having predetermined thickness via a bonding material and to integrate into a glass block; an inner and outer diameter coring step to core the formed glass block so as to form a toroidal glass block; a grinding step for an inner and outer peripheral end faces to grind the inner and outer peripheral end faces of the formed toroidal glass block; an etching step to etch the inner and outer peripheral end faces of the ground toroidal glass block; and a separating and cleaning step to separate the etched toroidal glass block into respective toroidal glass substrates and to clean the separated toroidal glass substrates.
