PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an easily operable industrial method of more efficiently preparing a fluorine-containing monomer useful in the field of a coating material such as a reflection preventive film or in the field of a resist material such as photolithography. SOLUTION: The method of preparing a fluorine-containing monomer by esterifying a fluorine-containing diol and acrylic acid chloride each being commercially readily available, in the presence of an alkali, is characterized by employing a polycyclic nitrogen compound as the alkali.
