The device (1) has a cylindrical housing (2) comprising a laterally arranged inlet (8), which flows into an inlet chamber (5). An exhaust-gas treatment element (3) i.e. oxidation catalyst, is arranged in the housing and provided downstream to the inlet chamber. A sheet metal body (16) is coaxially arranged in the housing between the inlet and the exhaust-gas treatment element. The sheet metal body has a perforated wall (18) that encloses a through opening (17), where the wall is fastened at the housing. The inlet is oriented transverse to an axial direction (6) of the housing.
