The method involves withdrawing vouchers from an input and/or output tray (6) into a self service device (1) after expiration of predetermined time period. An identification card is attached to the returned vouchers for assigning of the vouchers to a transaction implemented by a user at the self service device. The vouchers together with the identification card are transferred into two vouchers boxes for storing of the vouchers to be retained. One of the vouchers boxes is formed as a retract box that stores the returned vouchers. An independent claim is also included for a self service device having input and/or output device, an operator panel and vouchers boxes.
