The device (1) has an evaluation unit (4) to process image data (Sig3). The device is controllable in an operating mode such that the data in two image regions have a low contrast difference. The regions have a large contrast difference relative to each other. One of the regions is removed by the other region under formation of a contour. The evaluation unit is arranged in the mode to analyze and close the contour with respect to course of the contour based on existence of an expected object (O) i.e. person, or existence of an image of the object. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for identifying an object (2) a computer program product for execution by a computer to perform a method for identifying an object.
