The cylinder (13) has printing plates arranged in a set of sections, and a retaining device (15) provided in a cylinder channel (14). A spring plate and/or the retaining device is arranged in each section for fixing of a forward-moving chamfer and/or a running chamfer of the printing plates in such a manner that the spring plate exerts force aligned on an edge (27) of the cylinder channel and/or on the forward-moving chamfer for fixing of the forward-moving chamfer. The running chamfer runs through an opening (18) and is inserted into the cylinder channel.
