PURPOSE: A place name information database management method performed by a mobile communications terminal and the mobile communications terminal are provided to store place name information which a user can read out in the mobile communications terminal, thereby providing a more efficient LBS service to the user. CONSTITUTION: A place name information request message is transmitted to a place name information server(S310). The place name information request message requests place name information about the location of a mobile communications terminal. As a response to the place name information request message, a place name information response message is obtained from a place name information server(S320). The place name information database of the mobile communications terminal is updated through the place name information of the place name information response message(S330). An LBS(Location-Based Service) is provided by the place name information of the place name information database(S340).
