PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which achieves energy saving in a paper feed device. SOLUTION: It is confirmed that a power supply control part 35 requires comparatively large power since it performs power supply control of feed motors 30M, 31M, 13M based on access information obtained with a resist sensor 32 and a paper detection sensor 33. For example, timing when paper P reaches the feed motors 30M, 31M, 13M or when the paper P is released from the feed motors 30M, 31M, 13M is obtained as access information, power supply control of the feed motors 30M, 31M, 13M is appropriately performed based on the obtained timing.
