<p>It is intended to provide a useful cigarette filter capable of maintaining a taste component such as nicotine or tar and efficiently and selectively removing formaldehyde, and does not make the taste of cigarette acrimonious. The cigarette filter is formed of a cigarette filter material comprising silica gel having an average pore size of 5 nm or more and 350 nm or less. The cigarette filter material can efficiently and selectively remove formaldehyde although a surface of silica gel is not treated at all. A cigarette filter formed of filter rods at both end portions and provided with such a cigarette filter material in an intermediate portion is capable of, for example, maintaining the retention ratios of nicotine and tar at 75% or more and reducing the retention ratio of formaldehyde to 40% or less, and does not increase an airflow resistance value.</p> |
