Spinning.-A tool for flanging a hole in the wall of a pipe comprises a threaded member 1 having a head 6 connected by a neck 5 to the threaded portion, the head having its longest dimension laterally of the member with the narrow sides 7 converging towards the neck and a recess 9 in one of the sides, and a member 2 threaded to engage member 1 and having an abutment surface S, the member 1 being rotatable from a position in which the head protrudes forwardly of the surface S and within a hole in the pipe-wall to a position wherein the head lies behind the surface S, having spun a flange on the pipe upon passing through the hole. The recess 9 enables the head to be threaded through a hole smaller than the length of the head but larger than the neck 5. Instead of rounded sides 7, plane sides may be used, Fig. 7, connected by plane surfaces 20 to a curved end. An arm or jaws (not shown) on the part 2 may engage the pipe to prevent rotation of part 2. |
