IMAGE PROCESSING METHOD AND APPARATUS

PURPOSE: An image processing method and an apparatus thereof which generates a depth map of a normal object are provided to generate a depth map of a normal object by using depth information of a background extracted from metadata extracted from video data. CONSTITUTION: A metadata analyzer(420) extracts and analyzes depth information of a background and an object from video data. A depth map generator(440) extracts a coordinate showing the domain of a normal object from the depth information of the object. The depth map generator generates a depth map of the normal object by estimating the depth value of the background compared to the depth value of the normal object.
