PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for data transmission using multiple antennas are provided to implement SC-FDMA system by applying STBC(Space Time Block Code) and transmission diversity method. CONSTITUTION: An MIMO(Multi Input Multi Output) processing unit(130) creates a first transmission symbol in the frequency domain symbol with the application of the first transmission diversity method. The MIMO processing unit creates the second transmission symbol in the first transmission symbol with the application of the second transmission diversity method. The SC-FDMA modulator(140) creates the SC-FDMA(Single Carrier-Frequency Division Multiple Access) symbol with the performance of the IFFT(Inverse Fast Fourier Transform) about the first transmission symbol and the second transmission symbol. The MIMO processing unit divides a plurality of transmission antennas(150-1~150-N) into 2 groups. The MIMO processing unit maps the first transmission symbol to the first group, and the second transmission symbol to the second group.
