1377397 Plant growth regulation using thioureas CIBA-GEIGY AG 18 Nov 1971 [19 Nov 1970] 53676/71 Heading C1B A method for promoting the abscission of fruit from a tree or shrub utilizes as active ingredient a thiourea of the formula wherein: R 1 represents an unsubstituted phenyl group; a phenyl group substituted by one or more halogen atoms or by C 1 to C 4 alkyl, C 1 to C 4 alkoxy, C 1 to C 4 haloalkyl, phenoxy or mono- or poly-chloro-substituted phenoxy groups; an allyl group; a benzyl group; a phenethyl group; a norbornenyl group; or an at least partially hydrogenated 4,7-methanoindan-5- yl group; R 2 represents a hydrogen atom; a C 1 to C 4 alkyl group; a C 1 to C 4 alkoxy group; or an allyl group; and R 3 represents a hydrogen atom; an unsubstituted or substituted phenyl group; a C 1 to C 4 alkyl group; an unsubstituted or chlorosubstituted C 2 to C 4 alkenyl group; a di-(C 1 to C 4 alkyl) amino group; or a furfuryl group; or R 2 and R 3 , together with the nitrogen atom to which they are attached, represent a heterocyclic system with 5 or 6 ring atoms. The thiourea suitably is applied to the tree, shrub, or locus thereof, up to 20 days before harvesting the fruit. |
