METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR CONVERTING STEREOSCOPIC IMAGE SIGNALS INTO MONOSCOPIC IMAGE SIGNALS

PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for converting stereoscopic image signals into monoscopic image signals are provided to realize an image in an existing 2D display without distortion of picture quality using the stereoscopic image signals, thereby activating stereoscopic contents. CONSTITUTION: Unmatched areas are specified from a reduced left image and a reduced right image(S10). Boundary information is extracted from the unmatched areas(S20). One or both between the reduced left image and the reduced right image are all corrected using the boundary information(S30). A 2D image is generated using the corrected image(S40).
