PURPOSE: An apparatus for relaying Ethernet signal, and a communication network system having the apparatus, and a method for recovering a communication fault by using the apparatus are provided to prevent the disconnection of a communication service by allowing an optical signal to detour by using a subordinate Ethernet switch. CONSTITUTION: An Ethernet switch-based communication network system(100) includes an Ethernet switch for concentration(110), an Ethernet signal relay device(120), one or more subscriber receiving Ethernet switch(130), and a subscriber terminal(140). The Ethernet switch for concentration concentrates the uplink traffic of the subscriber terminal. The subscriber receiving Ethernet switch transfers the uplink traffic to an upper Ethernet switch for concentration. Based on an MAC(Meda Access Control) table, the subscriber receiving Ethernet switch transfers the downlink traffic(101) from the Ethernet switch for concentration to a lower subscriber terminal.
